Community is the key for members of the Highway 99 Action Committee. Through its efforts, economic development along Tukwila International Boulevard (aka State Highway 99) has returned. The Association of Washington Cities awarded the city’s Highway 99 Action Committee a municipal achievement award for its tireless efforts to improve the corridor. Citizens and businesses do make a difference in Tukwila!
Another sign of the spirit of Tukwila is seen in the many events hosted by the city. Each year the city presents activities such as the Tukwila Days Parade and Festival, the Summer Music in the Park Concert Series, and performances by the Rainier Symphony.
The city’s business community continues to grow and thrive. Strong local government support and economic development groups assist existing businesses and help bring new businesses to the city.
Westfield Shoppingtown Southcenter and Parkway Super Center, on Southcenter Parkway, offer a myriad of shopping opportunities. There are many fine restaurants, movie theaters and top name merchandisers. The Family Fun Center provides opportunities for hours of family-oriented fun and games.
Tukwila continues its economic growth, marching full-speed ahead. Tukwila is moving into the next century, leading the way in shaping the economy of the region.
