Dupont tourist information
A former company town for a DuPont plant, the town which bears the company name lies off Interstate 5 between Tacoma and Olympia. American Indians lived here as early as 5,000 yers ago, and the area was first seen by outsiders in 1792 when British Captain George Vancouver and a party of explorers cruised down the body of water he named Puget Sound. The area attracted the first non-native settlement in the Puget Sound region, Fort Nisqually, a Hudson's Bay Company trading post built in 1833.
