Located in the center of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area on U.S. Coast Highway 101, our coastal community is home to 40 miles of undisturbed beaches, the tallest dunes in Oregon, spectacular sunsets and abundant wildlife. The rich and diverse natural beauty affords a host of outdoor recreational opportunities. Learn about everything to see and do with a stop at our Visitor Center at the junction of Highways 101 & 38. Get the inside track on where to stay and where to eat from our friendly Chamber staff. Information about the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, hiking and camping areas and access permits are available from U.S. Forest Service personnel at the same place. The 24 hour foyer is stocked with free information, and maps that can help you find area attractions. We hope this website will provide all the information needed to show you how attractive the Oregon Coast and the Oregon Dunes are.
Reedsport is an incorporated city located on the Central Oregon Coast, approximately 2 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. The unincorporated communities of Winchester Bay and Gardiner arc located 4 miles to the south and 2 miles to the north. The combined area of the three communities is referred to as the Lower Umpqua (UM-KWA) Area.
The Lower Umpqua Area is approximately 60 miles from the I-5 corridor, 87 miles southwest of Eugene, 70 miles northwest ofRoseburg (County Seat) and 200 miles south of Portland
All of our area's resources and facilities accommodate a wide variety of recreation activities, including fishing, crabbing, clam digging, beach play, ATV riding in the dunes, bowling, golfing, hiking, indoor and outdoor swimming, picnicking, and much more.
