Corvallis tourist information
Corvallis was named for the town of Corvallis, Oregon, by the settlers who came from that area. The two French words: coeur, meaning heart, and valle, meaning valley, made the original name. In 1869, a Frenchman, Herron, was the first to settle and build a house in the area. The first post office was established in 1870 with Tom Rollins as postmaster.
Corvallis is nestled in the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley, within 90 minutes of the Portland Metropolitan area, world class skiing, and the spectacular Oregon coast. Corvallis has a residential population of 52,950 and is home to Oregon State University. Also located in Corvallis are the major firms of CH2M Hill, Hewlett Packard, Evanite Fiber Corporation, Good Samaritan Hospital, and The Corvallis Clinic.
The City's Riverfront Commemorative Park was redesigned after many years of planning and preparation. Take a stroll along the multi-use path and enjoy the beauty of the Willamette River and Downtown Corvallis. The Park is located along First Street from Van Buren all the way to B Street. The City has many other beautiful parks.

The Library has been ranked by Hennen’s American Public Library Ratings as number seven of the ten best libraries serving populations between 50,000 and 99,999. A visit to this beautiful Library at 645 NW Monroe is highly recommended!
Located at 1940 NW Highland Drive, the Osborn Aquatic Center offers fun all year round. The outdoor pools are open June1st through September 30th. Indoor facilities include an Olympic-sized 50 meter pool and a small pool that is 40 feet by 22 feet. Both pools offer handicapped access from wheel chairs, or standing or carry positions, by means of an ARJO Mark II handicap lift. Osborn Aquatic Center also has an activity room and a conference room. Have a private party or host a meeting, whatever the reason - we have the rental facilities that will make your next function a FUN one!
