How about live music, outdoors, on our downtown streets...three or more nights a week...for 24 weeks a year. And it just starts there.
Whatever it is, you can find it in Winston-Salem. Arts. Music. Sports. Shopping. Museums. History. And much more.
You can begin your visit to Winston-Salem at the place where it all began.
Even before there was Salem, there was Bethabara (be-THA-ba-ra), the site of Winston-Salem's first Moravian settlement. Bethabara – "house of passage" – was to be a temporary settlement until the town of Salem was established.
Old Salem occupies the same ground as when it was new...in 1766.
Founded as a Moravian town and back country trading center, Salem has survived to become one of America's most authentic and well-documented colonial sites.
Can a city of less than 200,000 people have great night life? The answer can be found right here in Winston-Salem. (And in case you are wondering, the answer is yes.)
Whatever kind of shopping you like, we've got it, from the largest mall in North Carolina, to studios where you can buy crafts directly from the hands that made them.
What happens to a city when you put all the major roads and highways in the right places? You get a city where you can get from one end to the other in just 15 minutes.

Picture this: you're in your favorite bistro, and you have tickets to a show. Across town. In 20 minutes. Relax. You can pay the tab and still make it with time to spare. (Of course, you'll have missed all the good lobby schmoozing, but that's another matter.)
Perhaps you're staying at one of our downtown hotels on a Friday night, and you want to hear the live music on Fourth Street. You can be there in less than 5 minutes. On foot. Dawdling.
A thousand things to do, all within 15 minutes of each other. It's convenient. It's comfortable. And most of all, it's all close by.
