Southport is part of the Boothbay Harbor Region on the southern coast of Maine, just five minutes from the village of Boothbay Harbor. To reach the scenic community of Southport, cross the Southport Swing Bridge onto Southport Island. Here you’ll find a waterfront community nestled among the woods, with unlimited opportunities for activities and sightseeing attractions. Southport is the kind of place where you can be as active or as inactive as you wish. Choose from swimming, sea kayaking, fishing and boating, hiking, biking or golf. Or take your time exploring the beaches for sea glass, enjoy the sights and sounds of the lobster boats and pleasure boats, photograph the beautiful sunrises and sunsets or just relax with a good book. For a day of sightseeing, nearby attractions to Southport include the Farnsworth Museum, Monhegan Island, antiquing in the historical town of Wiscasset, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the historic towns of Bath and Georgetown and the Boothbay Railway Village. Southport also has many dining options, and is known for its’ fresh seafood and lobster, and is just minutes is the shops of Boothbay Harbor.

In addition, "The Carolina Coast" was picked as one of the Best Vacations by Money magazine in April, 2001.

To truly understand the history and to experience Southport's touch, one must pay a visit to our town. Begin your visit at the Southport 2000 Visitor's Center, where maps, brochures and self-guided walking tours can be found. Just around the corner is the Southport Maritime Museum, where vistors can travel through Southport's maritime history. Take time out from sight-seeing to enjoy Southport's historic business district. The many antique and gift shops along Howe and Moore Streets give visitors a chance to walk and browse at their leisure. Also, be sure to walk along the Southport Riverwalk and visit the shops around the Yacht Basin and near the Marina. Finally, take time to enjoy wonderful local food at the many fine restaurants around town and pick up some fresh seafood from the fish houses along the Yacht Basin.
