Morganton is hometown of the late Senator Sam Ervin. A library in his memory is at West Piedmont Community College. We are in the vicinity of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky Mountains. Biltmore House is approximately 1 hour's drive from here. State parks and lakes nearby have plenty to offer for recreation. Boating, fishing, horseback riding, skiing, hiking and other sports are available.
