Durham tourist information

Durham is located in Marion County on K 15. The North Fork of the Cottonwood River curves around and almost surrounds the town.

Durham is located at what was the Cottonwood Crossing on the Santa Fe Trail. It was originally called "Moore's Ranch" and later the "Durham Park Ranch" before getting its current name about 1887. Early land grants in the area date from the Lincoln administration.

There are several traces of the Santa Fe Trail in the area including markers and ruts a mile or two west. The old hotel, once called the "Blue Moon" still stands in downtown Durham.
