Vaughn tourist information
A merchant’s wagon train once connected Las Vegas and El Paso, passing through what is now Vaughn. Other ancient roads connected El Paso and Mexico City. Vaughn remains on a direct rail and highway link with Mexico City. Within the space of five years, the building of two transcontinental railroads created the town of Vaughn. The El Paso and Rock Island Line came first in 1902 from the south, joining El Paso with Kansas City. In 1907 the Belen Cutoff of the Santa Fe Railroad (Belen to Amarillo) crossed the El Paso and Rock Island, and Vaughn was founded.
