Comment: After reading reviews, I was very skeptical, and thought we would walk into disaster. NOT SO! Extremely pleased with everything. Clean, no smoke smell. Extremely friendly staff, quick check in/out. Large bed, beautiful casino & pool. EASY access to Monorail for visiting strip. FREE Casbar Lounge entertainment was FANTASTIC! Restaurants tasty food and reasonable price. Low price/great stay! Would recommend to all!!

Comment: In the area for a conference, I decided to stay at Sahara because of the $$. I found the rooms very spacious, clean and staff very good as well. I utilized the monorail for transportation. Convientent as well but can be a hike to some of the hotels from it's stations.

Comment: I've been coming to Vegas for about the last 5 years and I stay at the Sahara most every time. The staff is good. The gaming is fair, and the rooms are better than what you pay for. If you want a $1000 a night room, then get one. But don't think that's what your getting for $* a nite. Think about that!

Comment: Really enjoyed the Sahara. It was my 60th birthday and we were given a suite on the 27th floor. Treated wonderful during check in. Room was imaculate. Even though it was a smoking room, no smoke smell at all. Food was great at the buffet for the price. Will definitely stay there again.

Comment: The price was unbelievable. The staff was so nice. OK the ice machine was broke...no biggie.....I found the rooms very clean...the monorail was right there....the only complaint that I had was the buffet wasnt very good...but the caravan cafe was great....I would definately stay there again....and my keno girls were the best( I had to mention them)

Comment: The Sahara's rates for my trip were about 1/4 those of hotels on the south Strip. It has easy access to the monorail which has stops all along the Strip, and $1.25 will get you a bus fare downtown. They have shows in-house, a roller coaster ride, a NASCAR-themed ride and restaurants for all budgets including a huge buffet. Pay no attention to those claiming a long wait at checkin (less than nine minutes), low-quality rooms (if you want gold-trimmed swankiness, stay in the south strip and bring $$$), smoky air (ask for the Tangiers Tower - it has upgraded ventilation).

Comment: We had a great time at the Sahara, we didn't leave the hotel for 3 days because there was so much to do in the hotel. It also had the best air quality in the casino then ANY of the other casinos. Definatly will stay there again.

Comment: Whether it is the $3.00 minimum blackjack at their casino or the great priced and quality buffet, you just cannot beat this hoitel for pure value. The room and bathroom were more than adequate and everything worked well. Best value in Vegas, IMO!

Comment: First given a smoking room without asking, but later moved to non-smoking without any problems. Hotel is decent value for money but can't compare to more newer exotic hotels on the strip. Overall hotel looks a bit run down but room was OK and clean. Need transport to get to the main portion of strip as Sahara is at the north end.

Comment: I couldnt have asked for a better place to stay. The rooms may be a little old but who goes to Vegas to sit in a hotel room! The staff were great especially the girls at the restaurant who were so wonderful to me. I loved seeing Merry every morning for breakfast.... she made me feel like family. She was so wonderful and a delight. Overall I would stay in this hotel again....for the price it is excellent. The only downside is that it is a long way from the center of the strip but still a great place to stay.

Comment: I stayed at Sahara for 12 nights in June. I read the reviews before going and was afraid that I had made a big mistake. At check in I was told it was too early but the clerk gave me a room anyways. I was in the Tangieres Tower which was very nice. I had a great view of the Strat and NE Las Vegas. I only heard my neighbors once. Maid service was great. Room service was also good. My parents were in town and stayed south on the strip after being around all the crowds and noise I could not wait to get back to the Sahara. Pool was nice and you dont have to walk miles to get to it.

Comment: I was pleasantly surprised the rooms were big, clean, the Caravan Cafe was good, great place to stay for being so cheap! Lots of stuff to see around the hotel, roller coaster, Nascar area, monorail is right outside!

Comment: If you check in at 4:00 PM then expect a line at any hotel, my check-in was around 8:00 PM, painless. My room was fine, the food was good, the staff was very friendly, the pool is beautiful. The hotel is showing it's age but they have the most inexpensive rooms on the strip. The best deal in Las Vegas. The casino is a throw back to when casinos were meant to be for adults, very traditional. You can spend easily 8 times the room cost in one of the hotels in the middle of the strip, but for the money you can't go wrong.

Comment: It was a good stay for the price. The rooms need updated, the carpet and wallpaper is old but they were clean. The staff was nice. Buffet is a good deal. They give you 2for1 when you sign up for players card. The casino staff are nice. We won a little on the blackjack tables. We enjoyed playing at the sahara the most. We would stay here again.

Comment: Our expectations were minimal after reading the other blogs on the site, but upon arrival, we were ecstatic. The hotel was fabulous, especially considering the great low rate. However, it was the very accomodating staff that will bring us back. The mexican restaraunt, Paco's, was delicious. Fabulous margaritas!

Comment: Our stay was very nice. The room was comfortable, clean and had a great view. It was a smoking room, that I didn't want, but it smelled much better than non- smoking rooms we have stayed in elsewhere. We were given the opportunity to get a non-smoking room for the next day, but didn't bother. The parking was designed so that we didn't have to walk much at all-very nice. The employees were pleasant and efficient.

Comment: Overall had a very good experience. Would stay there again. Dinner buffet was horrible.Cafe buffet that serves breakfast was even worse. Service was bad. They only served pork meat for breakfast. Food wasn't great. Checkout was bad. Not enough elevators to get evryone out of the hotel at checkout. It took about 45 mintes just to get an elevator to get to the lobby with our luggage.

Comment: Rooms badly need updating, they look VERY old. There was a roller coaster and NASCAR simulation driving games, a full arcade, several bars and good gambling tournaments but the restaurants could have had better service and weren't cheap.

Comment: Stayed here over the summer. We got a really great deal, and it was fine for our group. There was no problem getting an extra cot, and nothing went wrong with our reservation/room. Wish the table games on the casino were more spread out, but overall a great stay at a good price.

Comment: The Sahara has everything you need. Self check-in kiosk, nice pool area, several restaurants, large casino. Large hotel room with comfortable beds, iron and ironing board, hair dryer. Buffet quality not very good and prices went up. Ice machine on our floor only worked part of the time. Stratosphere, Riviera and Circus Circus in walking distance.

Comment: The Sahara is a great hotel with excellent customer service. We had a room with a balcony that overlooked the strip. The Sahara also has a monorail that can take you to five different stops. For the price the Sahara is a wonderful hotel.

Comment: This hotel was ok - the buffet was close by and very affordable. The rooms are older and not the cleanest. There was a piece of pepperoni on the floor by my bed and on purpose I didn't pick it up to see if the maid service would clean it and they never did. Cleanliness could be improved for sure. It was what I expected for the price I paid though.

Comment: We had a group of 15 staying at this hotel and although we had a great room, some of the rooms had pretty bad smoke smell to them. I enjoyed having breakfast at the cafe - loved the oatmeal! I would not recommend the buffet though. Overall, the price was great and the monorail made it very easy to get around. I'd stay again.

Comment: We have been to Vegas several times and stayed at a variety of places. The hotel and rooms were older but clean and comfortable but the best feature was the personnel at the casino. They were extremely helpful and nice and helped me learn new games. I will stay again. We were very satisfied. Great deal for the price. Very similar to other cities older nice hotels. Nice mountain view. Great service. The Sahara has a return customer.

Comment: For a place to stay, eat, swim and play the slots, I would pick this hotel to stay in again. A little smoky, but they all are. The Grind was their cafe and they had everything you needed there and didn't have to go elsewhere for food. But be warned! Food in Vegas is expensive! A regular Yoplait yogurt at the Grind is $3.25! and the sandwiches will run you about $6.50. But definitely worth it.

Comment: For the money, the Sahara was good. I really can't complain too much. The location was inconvenient because it is a hike from the popular end of the strip. The bus is cheap, but the monorail is faster. It was convenient to have a monorail stop at the hotel!

Comment: I can't say much bec. we decide to pay cheap. But seeing the bath tub and sink plugged up is kinda disgusting, we'll probably decide to stay in a better hotel next time, sometimes paying cheap is not worth it.

Comment: I was expecting something a bit higher quality. I also had to pay almost $12 a day for an internet connection, which I though was outrageous. The hotel is right on the monorail, which makes getting around to other hotels and casinos very easy. There is also a nice little Mexican restraunt in the hotel called Paco's that was pretty cool.

Comment: It was our first stay at the Sahara. After our initial shock of the outdated room we did enjoy our stay. The casino & restaurants were pleasant, friendly staff, although extremely slow getting into the breakfast buffet (thank you Emily for that). With access to the monorail, the Sahara is a good deal for the buck. We will stay there again. But, if any Sahara personnel should read this...please, at least change the wall paper. In 1952, I'm sure it was nice. Also, it would help if there were more english speaking dealers at the table. Overall, it was a good stay. We'll be back.

Comment: Service was very good, but rooms were not very nice. They did not look like the rooms shown on the internet. The only view we had was of a building or roof top. I was expecting more. Our friends that went with us drink coffee. They did not offer a coffee pot, which most motels do furnish now. They were disappointed. It would be nice also if a complimentary breakfast were offered. Next time, we will search for a hotel that offers a complimentary breakfast. We would be willing to pay extra for these for conveniences.

Comment: The Hotel/Casino is smoky. But the good thing about the Sahara is "The Drive" where you can actually test drive high perfomance sports cars on a designated track! The Cafe was ok. except for one bad experience. The bath tub had a leak and was rusted inside. They were testing the smoke alarm system when we were there, so not exactly peaceful or quiet.

Comment: The Sahara draws in customers through heritage and cheap rates. They obviously don't care if you return because they treat guests poorly. Rooms are fine, old and knocked around. Security is great. All amenities are 'for a price only' and front desk and bell help is with an 'if I have to' attitude. No free internet. Want Vegas glitz? Try elsewhere.

Comment: The Sahara is a wonderful hotel for the price. It is a little out of the way of the main hub of the strip but it is not a far walk to get into the 'action' It is an older hotel and could use a little face lift, but all in all I was very pleased. I figured it would be run down by the price, but it was not at all! Rooms were better than some at the Tropicana!

Comment: The tub backed up (icky for a microbiologist) and the phone cord was frayed, thus unreliable. Room service good for Vegas, maid service trustable and fairly reliable. Had a couple of glitches the first night with the room key. Staff overall seemed to care, not sure about the management!

Comment: This hotel is always consistant. The rooms are clean and well maintained. You won't find some bad and some good. I like the casino. The restaurants are OK but could be better, especially the buffet. Everyone is very nice and courteous. I never have a problem.

Comment: This was our first trip to Vegas. Our room was on the shabby side, but we only paid $* per night and didn't spend much time in the room anyway. Rooms were made up every day and kept clean. The whole Vegas experience was just wonderful and we packed as many activities as possible in 3 full days. Casino at Sahara was great, but wish they had Caribbean Stud poker. Coffee at the coffee shop was the best. For the price, would stay at Sahara again.

Comment: We didn't spend more than sleeping time in the hotel so it was fine for our purposes...IF you are booking a special event such as an anniversary or honeymoon...find another hotel! This hotel is fairly low priced and fairly well located but the rooms are not special, at least the standard rooms aren't. The hotel is old, an ICON even, but doesn't compete well with the gorgeous new properties. If it's something special spend the extra cash.

Comment: Got a good deal here, hard to believe it was once 1st class, "The Beatles Slept Here 1964" so the sign says. Service at desk good, Alexanria tower needs renovation, old, lights not working, lamps broken. I understand Tangiers Tower is better

Comment: I asked for a king size bed when I placed y order online, when I got there they gave me two doubles! They were very courteous and changed my room to a king but when I got there it was like stepping into an ashtray. They were only able to change us to a non-smoking double room (room 3 if you are counting all on the same day). They finally moved me to a non-smoking king size room for the rest of my stay.

Comment: I can't cut and paste my complaint email in here. To cut a long story short, I spent almost 3 grand and the hotel won't send me back my jacket that I left in my room. All I got from the Sahara management was an arrogant and obnoxious attitude.

Comment: Only things you can walk to are Stratosphere, IHOP, tattoo parlors, and wedding chapels. Streets are littered with adverts (these are all over Vegas, but are literally strewn in the streets in this area). Bathroom floor was filthy, and I'm pretty sure the shower had not been cleaned. The staff was overall impatient and unresponsive.

Comment: Overall, I liked my stay at the Sahara. The food at the Caravan Cafe & The House of Lords was excellent. The hotel staff was also very responsive to any request we made. The building looked to be in good state of repair & was clean. The hotel is a stop on the monorail, which is a plus. However, I was very disappointed with the excessive temperature of the hotel room. You couldn't control the temperature of your room, it was done by the hotel. Our room was in excess of 80 degrees every night & just too hot to sleep.

Comment: Rug in room looked like a crime scene. Musty smell. Mildew in bathroom. Pool hours 9-7. Pool only 3 1/2 feet deep. While we were there, no good payoffs on any gambling. Management unresponsive to problems.

Comment: The first night we stayed in the worst room I have ever stayed in. Then we moved to a room that was ok. We were then left locked out of the room multiple times and the maintenance people didn't call us till the last morning so we just had to keep getting new keys.

Comment: The hotel and casino were fine, however, the bathroom in our room and the elevator areas were disgusting. Our bathroom was not clean even when we got there. Comment: The room was nasty. Big dirty stains on the carpeting. We asked for a king non-smoking room and was given a smoking with 2 double beds. We had to leave the window open for the first 12 hours just so we could stand to be in the room with the cigarette smell.

Comment: The rooms and bathrooms were terrible.You can't even control the temperature in your OWN room, the hotel does it. I have never stood at a hotel that does that. And to top it all of on one night there was some sort of bug on the wall. I expected a decent room for $* a night.

Comment: Extremely unfortunate. Rude people work at this hotel and we were stunned by it. We had no room service at all. We had to call them several times (to an uninterested desk clerk) & finally on day 3, we got fresh towels. Also, no iron in the room as stated on their website. Their cafe hostess was extremely unpleasant, she snapped at us when we asked for a booth that was 2 feet away in their EMPTY cafe. From fighting waitresses in the cafe to rude & impatient desk clerks, RUN NOW!

Comment: First off, the a/c is regulated by the outside weather condition. So if it's hot, your room is hot. Brown water coming out of the shower. We think there was a fire somewhere, no one would tell us. They shut down the elevators and all the electricity. No emergency lights. We walked down the fire escape, even though they told us not to. No lights, total darkness. 17 floors. But when we walked through the casino, it was up and running, along with the roller coaster. Go figure. No explaination, nothing but scoldings for walking down the stairs. Spend your money on a better hotel.

Comment: If your staying in Las Vegas just pay the extra money and stay in a different hotel. This hotel even though it has a famous name and great past is exactly that a hotel of the past. It is in need of some serious updating. It is not even on the same level as many of the other hotel/casino's in Las Vegas. The buffet was terriable, the room was outdated and dirty, the toilet didn't flush and we had to switch rooms, the lobby was filled with the smell of smoke. This hotel could be something great if there was some money put into updating and upgrading.

Comment: The hotel room was very shabby. The bathroom made me feel dirty. The air conditioner was so loud that we got very little sleep. Spent way to much time waiting for the elevator. The service at Pacos took far to long. Always a 15 minute wit at the coffee shop. The staff was not knowledgable at all.

Comment: The only good thing about this hotel was the kind people in the liquor store that helped me with everything that I needed. Otherwise the place smelled horrible (like death and decay), the food was bad.The service of the front desk staff was awful. They treated me like I was the worst person who ever stayed at their hotel. Sorry we all can't be the Beatles! Although I am sure that about 90% of the staff are still there from when the beatles stayed at the Sahara!

Face prints on glass looking out, found someone elses comb in bath tub, table sticky, menu in room covered in ketchup, ripped curtains and bedding. Obviously maids do not clean these rooms very good after guests check out. YUK. Pay an extra few bucks to stay in nicer hotel!!!
