Vlora Tourist Information
Vlora is an anthic Albanian city and today it is a very important port. In ancient times it was called Aulona. The history is very similar to that of other Albanian territories (see Apollonia). Vlora had a very important role in the war against Italian invadors during the two World Wars.
Today, Vlora is a very important touristical city. Situated between two Seas with different characteristics (the Adriatic Sea is sandy, the Ionnian Sea is rocky) it has a magnificient nature and climate. Vlora is situated in the Gulf with the same name and right in front of the city is the island of Sazan.
The northern coast is a part of the Adriatic Sea, so it is sandy, with a long beach. Here there are some long gulfs. The southern part is rocky, with a short beach and hotter climate. Here there are many rocky capes and some beautiful gulfs. We can mention the beaches of Radhima, Orikum, Uji i Ftohte (the Cold Water) and more. Close to the beach there are some small hotels, not very expensive. One night costs from 10 to 20$ per night (a double room).
