Taipalsaari Tourist Information

In Taipalsaari, the richest inland municipality in waterways and islands, you can enjoy the refreshing activities offered by nature both in summer and winter, including fishing trips, riding, snowmobile rides, and meals out in the open. Holiday Centre Saimaanranta provides interesting opportunities for various activities throughout the year.

In summertime, a wooden church dating from 1754 is open to visitors, and the Röytty museum house presents local history, the hostelry tradition and old horse-drawn vehicles. The cow shed gallery exhibits local handicrafts which are available for purchase. On summer Saturdays, you can enjoy your coffee in the marketplace. An attraction worth visiting, the beautiful municipal office building completed in 1990 and with excellent location by Lake Saimaa, is open on weekdays. In September 1999, a monument commemorating a wartime airfield was unveiled in Peltoi.

The traditional Taipalsaari Day is celebrated in June and the Taipalsaaren Soutu rowing event takes place in June also.
