Southampton tourist information
Southampton Parish is perhaps most famous for the dramatic coastal views it offers from its beaches. There are many trails that lead from South Road to the shore, and you'll find numerous paths that are perfect for walking, jogging and horseback riding.
The parish's other claim to fame is Gibb's Hill Lighthouse, one of Bermuda's most familiar landmarks. Constructed between 1845 and 1846, the lighthouse is one of the few in the world made of cast iron. It is 117 feet tall from base to light, and the 185-step climb to the top, which requires a $2.50 fee, offers amazing panoramas of the entire area. You can reward yourself for the effort with a spot of English tea in The Lighthouse Tearoom, then browse The Lighthouse Gift Shop for a worthy souvenir. The lighthouse is open daily from 9 a.m. into the evening.
