Ristiina Tourist Information
Ristiina, 20 km South of Mikkeli, is a genuine part of the Green Gold’s Cultural Road. The last centuries’ history is almost palpable in the museums of Pien-Toijola and Siikin torppa cottage. Take a walk by the Kreivinpolku path to see the village’s historical sights including Brahelinna ruins and Ristiina church. The largest rock paintings in the Nordic countries located at Astuvansalmi take you back thousands of years.
Accommodation is available for example at the Vihkon kievari inn, Löydön kartano manor or Hotel Heimari by the Lake Saimaa. Professor E.N. Setälä’s summer villa completed in 1897 is today known especially among boaters as Café-Restaurant Kallioniemi. The guest harbour located in the middle of the village can be accessed even with large boats.
