Petionville tourist information
Just above Port-au-Prince, the city of Pétion-Ville is a short ride from downtown. It's a great place to wander through and stop in the many art galleries of have a meal at one of the fine restaurants in the area. Haitian food will be one of the highlights of your trip. French cuisine that's been called the "finest in the Caribbean" is married to the varied spices of the country, making a most interesting combination.
Travel up to the mountain to Boutiliers for a splendid view of Port-au-Prince atrer the morning mist clears or at night. The castle-like Hane Barbancourt is located in this area as well. You may sample up to 20 liquors made from rum at the distillery-from banana-flavored rum to rum made with several varieties of local fruits and flowers. Giant casks hold the treasured rum.
