The eastern road is the main trunk road of the territory, as it leads to Niamey through Savè, Parakou and Kandi. It drives through the region of Bariba people, whose historical capital is Nikki .
The bariba region begins from Parakou which is at the same time a regional market.
It is a cosmopolitan city and a tourist centre with its large shady streets and the Tabera place.
The visitor will frequently come across the famous bariba horse riders known for their boisterous fantasias announced by long trumpet sounds.
