Mystery Lake Manitoba Tourist Information

The Local Government District (LGD) of Mystery Lake, located in north central Manitoba encompasses a large district of lakes, forest and rich northern communities. At the centre of Mystery Lake is the thriving City of Thompson. Considered the "Hub of the North", Thompson is located 739 kilometres north of Winnipeg along Provincial Trunk Highway 6. Highway 6 is the only road connection to Mystery Lake from the south of the province. Sipiwesk, Parlee, Moak Lake and Johnson are the significant communities in Mystery Lake. With the Burntwood River flowing through the L.G.D. along with a plethora of lakes and forests, Mystery Lake truly is situated in Manitoba's "Great North".

While visiting Mystery Lake don't miss the beautiful Pisew Falls. This road accessible waterfall is the third largest falls system in the province. A five minute boardwalk will lead you to an observation platform that overlooks these spectacular falls. The Pisew Falls are located on PTH 6 between Thompson and Wabowden.

The Heritage North Museum displays local historic artifacts, a natural history exhibits and a small professionally done pioneer display.

Fishing in Mystery Lake is second to none! One can fish for Northern Pike, Walleye, Perch, Bass, Lake and Rainbow Trout, and never have to complain about the "one that got away"! The northern boreal forest is also second to none when it comes to big game hunting. Black Bear, Moose, Grouse, various birds, and numerous smaller mammals are all plentiful in Mystery Lake!
