Livingston Tourist Information

Caribbean rhythms are heard constantly in the Garifuna port of Livingston. They increase during the month of May for the feast of St. Isidore. The festivities start on May 13th , with the arrival of the Garifuna brotherhoods, both from the Atlantic Coast of Guatemala and the south of Belize. For three days, the people sing and dance puntas and jankunu to the sound of drums. The feast ends on May 15th with the yurumen, symbolizing the arrival of the first settlers in the region, and the return of the image of St. Isidore to the church.
