Krasnodar tourist information
When Catherine the Great traveled south to tour the land she has won from the Turks in the Crimean War, her minion Potemkin had lovely facades erected along her route that later became the city called Yekaterinodar (Catherine’s Gift).
Some two centuries later, Krasnodar (it was renamed in 1917) is resort – like with numerous parks, fountains and Soviet-era buildings and hotels. The main attraction here is Cossack’s headquarters located in the city. If you are lucky enough, you can catch one of Cossack’s national festivals and see their way of living, traditions and culture.
There is also the Museum of Local Lore that contains a vast collection of Scythian and ancient Greek figures.
