Kaycee Wyoming Tourist Information
The town of Kaycee is a small community about 45 miles south of Buffalo and 65 miles north of Casper. Hoof prints of the Past Museum in Kaycee is open through the summer until November. The museum offers the Hole-in-the-Wall Tour in June. The all-day tour leaves the Kaycee Harold Jarrad Park Building early in the morning and touches on the Outlaw Trail, Sioux Trail, Hole-in-the-Wall fight monument and the Hauck Ranch, a site where Indian writing has been preserved for generations. The Museum itself mainly showcases the history of Johnson County, from cattle wars to outlaw hideouts and Indian battles. The museum can boast that it is more hands-on than most museums; in most everything is hidden behind glass. But at Hoof Prints of the Past, visitors are allowed to learn about the history and culture of the western US by the ability to touch the artifacts of the museum. There are many other interesting sites in and around Kaycee such as: the Outlaw Cave, The Dull Knife Battle Site, the Teapot Dome formation, pictograph and petroglyphs sites, Red Wall country and much more. Home to 249 people. Elevation 4,660 ft.
