Itacare
Its geographical position makes possible the formation of really big waves (the biggest in Bahia). That is why Itacaré is called the surf-city among the surfers.
Itacaré is part of the Environmental Protection Area of Itacaré/Serra Grande. Small shell-shaped beaches, the mouth of Contas river, the Ecological Reserve of Prainha, the mangrove swamp and the areas of Mata Atlântica are the ecological attractions of the town.
The beaches in the north, on the left side of Contas river's mouth are, mostly, reached only by boats.
Walking around the region, discovering hidden streams and waterfalls is the best way to be closer to some areas of this ecological sanctuary that are still untouched by men.
