Iguaque Tourist Information
This sanctuary ocupies an area of 6.750 hectareas and is located only 185 kilometers from Bogotá and at less than an hour from Villa de Leyva, with exotic places loke the Oak Forest, the big lakes and water deposits, enjoing of a diverse variety of birds and with a vegetation rich in frailejón, siete cueros, tobo, pino ahuyuelo, cucharo, musgos, líquens, quinches, helechos and orchíds. Inside of this great natural space, we can find mointains with a height average between 2.400 and 3.800 meters over sea level and an average temperature between 6 and 18 °C. Among all the atractions that this Sanctuary offers we can name Lake of Iguaque, which is consider for the Muisca culture as the place where mankind was origined.
