Summer is for fragrant cliff paths with sheltered coves, or for sand, surf and exploring endless rock pools. Join the local celebrations at the Summer Shows and Carnival or step into the timeless, tranquil world of the smaller islands. Its about outdoor living and long, easy days. St Peter Port harbour bustles with visiting yachts and locals indulge their passions for the sea and relaxed al fresco eating.
Autumn is an easy-going season that allows islanders to keep alive many of their summer pastimes. Surfing, sailing and windsurfing often peak when the summer sun has passed. For locals, the island's spectacular and moving Battle of Britain air show in September signals the start of autumn. As the call of the beach fades, this is the time to explore the island's many accredited attractions, including museums, galleries and historic sites. Islanders mark the resumption of indoor eating with the Tennerfest - a mass, Epicurean celebration where restaurants do battle to deliver the best menu - all for £10.
Winter is both spectacular and hospitable. The power of the sea provides a breathtaking backdrop to winter walks - the perfect prelude to eating, drinking and a busy programme of live music and entertainment. Short breaks on the smaller islands offer the ultimate opportunity to relax and take in the majesty of the ocean in winter.
