Gualeguaychu Tourist Information
Situated in the southeast of Entre Ríos Province and Head City of the homonimous Department, it is an ideal city to rest in an atmosphere of tranquility, safety and beauty framed by mirrors of water and thick woods that attract you and provide you with different alternatives. Gualeguaychú has an attractive littoral landscape with a relief of low hills where the main touristic attraction is the coast of Gualeguaychú River and Uruguay River that is to the South of the city. The climate of the region is pampa template with an average temperature of 18º C, being the maximum temperatures of 32º C in Summer and minimum temperatures of 5º C in Winter. You can get to Gualeguaychú from different cities in the country through Nº 12, 14 and 136 National Routes. From Uruguay, you can take “ Libertador San Martín International Bridge” that links the city with Fray Bentos City in the neighbour country. One of the main attractions in Gualeguaychú is the carnival that takes place every Summer. In January and February, you can enjoy “ Carnaval del País”,( Carnival of the Country) where you can observe procession parades that amaze with dances and songs along the streets. By the river, the natural beauty that dresses the coast is increased by many beaches, the port and Unzué Park counting on a thick and varied vegetation,. These places are chosen to practise water sports, fishing and amusing walks in the outdoors. You can also visit Boca Port in the junction of Gualeguaychú and Uruguay Rivers, El Sirí Autochthonous Flora and Fauna Preservation Station, Itapebí Farm or the Ñandubaysal Beach and Camping located 17 km away from the city on the verge of Uruguay River. Gualeguaychú has historical areas that contribute to the city patrimony and are worth visiting- San Martín Square , Urquiza Square, San José Cathedral or cultural sites like the museums of Magnasco Institute, the Railway Museum, Andrade´s House and Fray Mocho's House which are true evidence of the eager development of the city. This city is , no doubt, one of the ideal places in Mesopotamia to enjoy peace and the gifts of Gualeguaychú and Uruguay Rivers in a beautiful natural frame.
