Ensenada De Utria Tourist Information
More than 300 days of rain per year and 90humidity are typical of this natural park of 54.300 hectares. Located in the state of Choco, the park is one of the best places to enjoy eco-tourism in Colombia as it has four of the most threatened eco-systems in the world: the mangroves, the estuaries, the coral reefs and the tropical rain forest. Once experienced all of this generates a special interest in taking care of and defending the endangered species. Of the 54,300 hectares which comprise the park, 12,000 are marine and the other 42,300 are land. Utria is a natural park filled with innumerable aquatic and land species. The flora of the area is characterized by trees such as the choibá, the guino, the peinemono, the nato, the abarco, the black guayacán and various species of palms. Among the fauna that delights visitors are humpback whales, killer whales, dolphins, sharks, manta rays, sperm whales and turtles. Among activities enjoyed by visitors are diving, sailing along the coast, visits to the Indian communities in the park, hiking and thermal baths. September and October are the months to watch for the arrival of the whales. You can arrive at the park by air from Medellín to Bahía Solano and from there to the park by boat or on foot.
