Dugo Selo Tourist Information

With a rapid expansion in the recent time, Dugo Selo has become an important trade, catering and entertainment centre of the region. Martin Breg is the popular excursion destination on the hill above Dugo Selo, in the wine-growing region. There is a large restaurant and a discotheque. Martin Breg is also known for the local radio station Radio Martin. In the nearby village of Bozjakovina is the Draskovic manor-house with a park, dating back to the beginning of the 19th century, protected as a horticultural monument. Due to favourable traffic connections and its location in the vicinity of Zagreb, Dugo Selo is visited by tourists in transit. DUGO SELO, a town in the region of Zagreb, 23 km east of Zagreb; elevation 106 m; population 6,508. It was first mentioned in 1206. Economy is based on farming, food (milling industry), wood and timber (sawmill, furniture, teaching aids) and metal-processing ("Gorica" pot factory) industries, as well as on building material production (brick production, gravel extraction, etc.). In the vicinity there are also oil and natural gas deposits. Dugo Selo is located on the main road Zagreb - Vrbovec - Bjelovar (M1.3); railway junction Zagreb - Vinkovci, and Zagreb - Koprivnica. On the Prozorje hill are the ruins of the St. Martin's church. The parish church in neo-Gothic style, according to the design by H. Bollé, was built in Dugo Selo in 1900.
