Cotonou offers the visitors the charm of a cosmopolitan city with a human dimension built alongside the Atlantic Ocean.
A sightseeing round the city will allow the discovery of places and memorials, buildings and social, economic historical and religious complexes, the merchant port , and the fishing port, densely populated quarters, villages of fishermen, markets of which the most important is the “DANTOKPA” market.
The huts of these lakeside villages are built in rattan cane, covered with thatch and highly perched on stilts deeply sunk in the bottom of the lake where people circulate in canoes between the villages and the market.
