Brinje Tourist Information
Brinje was once an important historical place, while today it is a transit town on an important road leading to the coast. It is therefore visited by numerous tourists during summer months. A special feature of Brinje is a three-storey Gothic chapel (recently restored), a monumental structure of Croatian architecture. A variety of local dishes are offered, especially quality cheese. A huntsmen's club is active in Brinje, and its region, rich in game, attracts numerous huntsmen from abroad. Velebit Mountain is also accessible from Brinje via Krasno.
BRINJE, a small town in the north-eastern part of Lika, located in the karst basin of Brinjsko Polje, 32 km east of Senj, between the slopes of Velebit Mountain and Kapela Mountain; elevation 481 m; population 2,049. Chief occupations include farming, livestock breeding, wood-processing and metal-working industries (knife and razor factory). Brinje is located on the main road Karlovac - Senj (M6.02).
