Bordertown Tourist Information

Bordertown Australia

Bordertown is just over the border from Victoria on the Dukes Highway (which is named the Western Highway in Victoria). Agriculture is the towns main industry and is the basis for much of the tourism. There are wildlife parks, farms and heritage displays in the town and surrounding area. As Bordertown is around 3 hours drive from Adelaide and around 5 hours drive from Melbourne it makes an ideal stop over if you travel between the two cities. There is a small but good selection of accommodation in Bordertown.

Bordertown is located on the Limestone Coast which is probably most famous for the Coonawarra, arguably the finest wine producing region in Australia. The 'Limestone Coast' has its origins millions of years ago when the land was originally submerged beneath the sea. Over eons, the waters receded leaving the iron rich limestone exposed to the oxidising atmosphere.
