Bismark Tourist Information
Bismark is famous far beyond the borders of Altmark not only for its noble Bismarck clan but also because of its auctions. Nowadays the agriculture and arts and crafts are the predominant sources of income in the region around Bismark.
During the Middle Ages, Bismark was a popular pilgrimage town. Its symbol is the "Golden Louse", the spire of the pilgrimage church.
Nowadays, the parish church which was built during the first half of the 12th century functions as a landmark symbol of our town. Don´t miss a visit of Bürgerhaus located at the beautiful market square. A historic wedding exhibition and a chronicle dealing with the famous composer W. Lüdecke provides the visitor with an insight into the town history.
The "small" Bismarck museum in the district of Poritz is only one station in our famous Bismarck route. It features more than 300 exhibits related to the "Iron Chancellor". A leisurely walk through the small museums park with the Bismarck memorial stone and the Bismarck oak will turn your town tour into a varied and unforgettable experience.
