Bischofroda Tourist Information

Bischofroda is situated in the valley Lautertal, at the slope of the Hainich forest. Its foundation is first mentioned in 1103 as „Bischcofesrode“. The village is mainly characterised by timber-framed buildings, formerly big farmsteads, the palace in the centre and the church, which is one of the oldest churches in Thuringia. Our village won a price in the competition "More beautiful our village", due to its rural character and its careful preservation with many park and garden elements..
