Beli Manastir Tourist Information

BELI MANASTIR, a town in the region of Baranja, 32 km north of Osijek; elevation 95 m; population 10,146. Chief occupations include farming, viticulture, sugar, alcohol and vinegar processing, textiles; a mill and a brickyard. Beli Manastir is located on the main road (M17.01, E73) Osijek Beli Manastir Croatian-Hungarian border Mohács.

There was a monastery (PelMonostor) there in the Middle Ages. The Baroque parish church of St. Martin, built in 1777, was reconstructed in the 19th and the 20th centuries. The parochial church from 1759 has valuable 18th-century architectural elements (barrel wooden vault, iconostasis). Two layers of prehistoric settlements with sod-houses have been excavated
