Bad Tennstedt Tourist Information

The village of about 3000 inhabitants, Bad Tennstedt is situated in the Thuringian Basin, formed during the Ice Age, now with numerous gentle hills. From those, as you will discover yourself, beautiful views open into the landscape of many Nature Reserves and Thuringia. An oasis “at the doorstep” is the Health Spa park, crossed by a crystal clear brook. In 1811 the sulphurous spring was discovered, and only one year later opened the by now protected first bath building of Bad Tennstedt. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe too, visiting Bad Tennstedt by chance, was full of enthusiasm for the good sulphurous water. The little Goethe House is reminding the visitor of this.
