Bad Suelze Tourist Information
Bad Sülze was first mentioned in records in 1262. It is a small idyllic town in central Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, lying in the grassy, wooded Recknitz moorlands between the Recknitz and the Hanseatic cities of Rostock and Stralsund, south of the "Fischland - Darß - Zingst" peninsula. Bad Sülze has the Oldest Mineral and Mudbaths in North Germany . People to the north of the town were already producing salt from the salt flats in the 13th. century and supplied cooking salt to Mecklenburg for centuries. The salt has been used since 1822 and the mud since 1901 for therapeutic applications. The Dahlia display in the Bad Suelzer Kurpark from July to October is well worth seeing - a starburst of over 5000 Dahlia plants (2nd.weekend in September- Dahlia Festival). The nearby nature reserve of Grenztalmoor and the protected Recknitz Moor with a wide variety of flora and fauna offer lots of opportunities for rest and relaxation.
