...and make a trip to Bad Königshofen´s past. There goes a tale that the Grabfeld (translated: "dug up field") owes its existence to a ring. It´s said that a queen had been hunting there with her entourage and thereby lost her ring. Because she loved this piece of jewellery a lot, she ordered the whole region should be dug up. At the spot where the ring was found at last she gratefully built up a court (which is in German a "Königshof" – so we have the name of Königshofen). The peal of bells at the balcony of the city hall reminds of this tale. A fact is that Königshofen is a very old town. It was mentioned first in old documents of 741 A.D.

There are uncountable exhibits from the early history till our days. In the "Schranne", a subsidiary of the state prehistoric collection in Munich, you can see rare finds from the time about 4500 B.C., the time of the roman empire, medieval times as well as reconstructions of tombs from the Hallstatt period (700-500 B.C.).

The Concerts of the Lower Franconian Music College in Bad Königshofen have their fix part in the town´s cultural life. Concerts with choir and orchestra as well as soirees of song made the college famous not only in the surroundings and Franconia.
