Augathella Tourist Information
Augathella is situated at the junction of the Landsborough Highway and the road from Morven. Augathella was originally known as Ellangowan and was surveyed in 1880. It is the local centre for the graziers of the area. The notorious Kenniffe bushrangers operated in this area in the heyday. The town gets its name from an Aboriginal word meaning "waterhole" - relating to the Warrego River which runs next to the town.
