Andrew Alberta Tourist Information

The village of Andrew is home of the largest Mallard Duck after the 1992 statue was erected. Located only 2 km. (1.2 mi.) way is Whitford Lake, a major resting area for ducks and geese. Also known for its rich pioneer history, growth of the village was influenced by events such as the 1858 Palliser Expedition and the1885 Northwest Rebellion. The area was first settled by the Metis, and later the Scots with a long wave of Ukrainian homesteaders beginning in 1897. In 1893 Andrew Whitford, after whom the village was named, was given a Military Homestead.
