Allendorf Tourist Information

Allendorf with the village Aschau is situated at the foothills of the Thuringian Forest, in a geologically very interesting area. It is here that the "Schwarzburger Sattel" with some of the oldest geological forms of Thuringia meets the edge of the Thuringian Basin, characterised by blunter and Muschelkalk. Worth a visit is the village church as well as the rocks Zechsteinriffe, which are easily accessible along well sign-posted paths.
