Aggsbach Markt Tourist Information

This relaxation and vacation village is situated at the left shore of the upper Wachau, at the foot of the Jauerling (957m high).

Aggsbach was first officially mentioned in 830, since 1441 a market community. During a glacial period you could find a camp built by mammoth hunters here, and these were the ones who created the world-famous fertility statue "Venus of Willendorf" 25.000 years ago.

The village disposes of a late-romantic church from the 13th century. Many leisure time possibilities are at your disposal: "Heurigen" tavern, family park "Märchenland" Hubhof, stone age museum and place of discovery of the "Venus of Willendorf", marked hiking paths, fishing at the Danube, tennis, beachvolleyball court, curling on the road, nature beach, Danube cycling path.
