When you’re looking for a relaxing and beautiful destination to spend a few days, the simple word ‘sunshine’ does a lot for your mood! For that reason, the Sunshine Coast should be on your shortlist!
This is a long stretch of coastline along the east coast of Australia, situated in Queensland, around one or two hours from Brisbane, depending on whereabouts you are travelling within the region. Not to be confused with the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast is made up of several towns and villages, all with their own set of tourist facilities and charm, whilst also encompassing hinterland and countryside fun.
Whether you are wanting to enjoy walking, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, surfing, sunbathing, swimming, diving, snorkelling, or simply enjoying a few days doing nothing at all, the Sunshine Coast is certainly for you, with plenty of accommodation options on offer for you. No matter which town you choose to base yourself in, there are many hotels and guest houses, all with a homely charm to welcome you. Simply search for your actual town to pinpoint the choices down, e.g. search ‘accommodation Maroochydore’ and make your decision from there.
The major plus point of a holiday on the Sunshine Coast is that you can easily combine it with a few days in the city, visiting Brisbane and everything that particular destination has to offer; you could even throw in a day sampling the touristic delights of the Gold Coast if the mood takes you, before heading back to the more serene and laid-back feel of the Sunshine Coast. You can learn to surf at Noosa, sample delicious home cooked food, dive and check out the underwater residents of the area, or perhaps head off and walk amongst peaks and hills – there really is no better way of getting your large dose of the great outdoors than this!
Of course, beaches are also fantastic here, but the advantage is that they will never be crowded. Whilst the Gold Coast is about mass development and large hotels, the Sunshine Coast is more about chilled out days on the sand, and home away from home establishments; you will feel the difference instantly, and that is what makes this particular area stand out from its neighbour.
So, whether you combine city life with countryside, or you simply choose to dedicate your time to rest and relaxation in the beautiful surroundings of one of the coastal towns, you will certainly catch the chilled out vibe this area is so famous for, and probably be planning your return visit!
