
Calvia tourist information
Nowadays, Calviā Vila is the main town and administrative centre in the region. Quiet and traditional, t is located on a small hillside and offers architectural delights such as the church which crowns the town, with roman overtones and a large neo-gothic window. Here you may also attend the picturesque market held every Monday, where you will find handicraft items and fruit and vegetables.
At first sight it is the twin towers of the church which most standout, a clear architectural invitation to the visitor for further, close-up study.
However, what is most surprising, initially, about Calviā Vila is its very layout. It displays the features of ancient townships, and is formed by a number of scattered houses, except for the central section where the town hall is located. A considerable number of small vegetable gardens and orchards are distributed between the buildings, belonging to individual houses.
In Calviā Vila one may still see various possessions typical estate houses from times past. Some of the most outstanding examples of these are Valldurgent, Ses Algorfes, Son Sastre, Benātiga Vell, Son Boronat, Son Roig Vell and Mofarčs.
