Welcome to the Nh Duc De La Victoria Hotel in Barcelona - Just two blocks from Las Ramblas Boulevard, this hotel is a five-minute stroll from Barcelona Cathedral and one km (a half-mile) from the City History and Picasso museums. This contemporary hotel offers two small conference rooms, audio-visual equipment rentals and other business services, a technology help desk, a stylish restaurant, and a cozy bar. The 156 guestrooms feature hardwood floors, frosted-glass wardrobes, desks with upholstered chairs, black-and-white marble tiles in the bath, and wireless Internet access.
What to expect: A calm ambience pervades when coming in from the busy street outside. Opened in 2000, the public areas and guest rooms are light, modern, and airy. The lobby offers seating and leads on to the eponymous restaurant. Given the location the guests are mainly leisure visitors, though the hotel is smart enough with decent business facilities to attract locals and visiting businesspeople.

Insider tip: There are no fitness facilities but jogging along La Ramblas down to the Old Port can be a wonderful experience. The best time to go is early morning when only street cleaners, taxi drivers and other joggers are around and the sun is rising over the Mediterranean. At other times it can be infuriatingly busy.
