Carnoustie has a reputation for golf that is simply world-class. It is now synonymous with internationally renowned golfing destinations like St Andrews and Gleneagles.
It continues to challenge and thrill professionals and amateurs alike, notably in recent times; including local hero Paul Lawrie who won the 1999 Open Championship where he shot a final fantastic round and lifted the famous claret jug.
The area also offers sailing, windsurfing, fishing and horse riding, tennis and bowls. The local leisure centre offers a variety of indoor sports. Look out for fetes and special events throughout the summer, including Carnoustie Gala Week with entertainment for all the family.
