Slupsk tourist information
Słupsk – formerly a prince’s city on the Słupia river. A big cultural ad economic centre of central Pomerania. The centre was seriously damaged during World War II. It is worth visiting the gothic castle of the Pomeranian Princes on the Słupia river built at the beginning of the 14th century, rebuilt 200 years later. In the castle the collections of the Central Pomerania Museum are placed with historical, archaeological and art departments. It is also here that a unique collection of paintings and drawings by S. I. Witkiewicz (1885 - 1939) a painter - expressionist, art theoretician, playwright and a philosopher find themselves. In the nearby castle mill the collections of folk culture of Pomerania are placed. Not far from the market-place, among new buildings Virgin Mary gothic church dating back to the second half of the 14th century with gothic and renaissance furnishings. In the post-Dominian church tombstones of the Pomeranian Princes – the Gryfit Dynasty representatives. Worth visiting – the Pomeranian Princes Castle. The Museum.
