The bed and breakfast “Ai Mendicoli” is housed in a typical fifteenth century Venetian building. Tastefully restored and refurbished in 1999, it offers guests the opportunity to have a break in Venice and immerse themselves in the most authentic atmosphere and setting of the city.

It is near to S. Nicolò dei Mendicoli, Venice’s oldest church, in the very beautiful district of Dorsoduro, and is ideally situated not only for discovering the most well-known sights of the city, such as the Basilica dei Frari, the Ponte di Rialto (Rialto bridge) and Piazza S. Marco, but also the more hidden parts of that ‘Venice known only to Venetians’ that we would be happy to show you and make you fall in love with.

Depending on availability, you can choose a double room with en suite bathroom or a romantic mansard with en suite bathroom, both offering views on to a typical canal, the rio delle Terse.

Breakfast will be served in your room at a time that suits you. Keys are available to allow you access to your room at any time.

“Ai Mendicoli” is situated in the beautiful district of Dorsoduro, near to the prestigious Università di Architettura (University of Architecture), among the most important in the world and a few short steps away from the church of S. Sebastiano where you can admire Veronese’s paintings, and from the Scuola dei Carmini the ceilings of which are dominated by the extraordinary frescoes of G.B.Tiepolo.

A short distance ahead, there is the lively Campo S.Margherita, centre of Venice’s nightlife with numerous typical fish restaurants, pizzerias and late-night bars. It is an ideal spot for sipping a drink in the open beneath the stars and allowing the magic of the city to enthral you. The ‘vaporetto’ stop of S.Basilio, where the romantic walk of the Zattere begins, is nearby. The walk continues along the Canale della Giudecca, up to the Chiesa della Salute, from where you can admire the breathtaking panorama of the Venetian skyline, the beginning of the Canal Grande, the Palazzo Ducale and the Bacino di San Marco.
