Ischia is one of the most fantastic places you could go on holiday. The people are wonderful, food, drink and scenery are superb and it is not "touristy" or over commercialised. The towns and villages are delightful and the beaches are lovely, made even more attractive by not being huge. Sailing across that blue sea with Monte Epomeo rising out of the Atlantic Ocean ahead of you is one of the most dramatic arrivals you can make in any harbour on Earth. It is just magnificent.

This is truly one of the most beautiful and relaxing places on earth. The scenery is simply spectacular, the food magnificent (and inexpensive), the people warm and friendly as you would expect in Italy. Hotel accommodations are good as well. I found Ischia to be an unexpected experience in the best way and I'd recommend it to anyone. One word of caution, as this is "off the beaten path" a bit, English is not widely spoken. But, if you try, you can communicate. Be sure to visit the castle in the sea. We took a day-long boat trip with lunch around the island -- unforgettable. I wish I were there now.
