I have always stayed at the Grand Hotel in Arenzano, the first time in late 1966 and latest in August 2001. Although I find that the majority of tourists in Arenzano are German, I find it ideal as a break from any of the other locations in Italy as there are very few American or English tourists. There are many nice, small restaurants located in the town and most specialize in the seafood dishes of Liguria. The after meal stroll along the promenade, watching the locals playing bocci ball and watching the sun set over the Med are all very nice. It is a nice respite from the very highly trafficed cities in Italy, plus it is a short drive to Genoa and is not a long distance from France or Monaco.
