Ios is a fantastic, lively, small island with some marvelous beaches. We had a really cool time and really enjoyed staying on the island. It is mainly populated by the younger generation with it's wide selection of bars, discotheques and sandy beaches it is easy to see why it is popular amongst that age group! However, we stayed at a Hotel called Marco's Beach Hotel and we did experience some problems there... we noticed some things had gone missing from our room and when we told them about it, they made out that it was our fault for not putting them in the safes (which they charged extra at 5 Euros / night). There was a whole bundle of extras that they wanted from us when we left, we had paid for bed and breakfast but apparantly everything on the breakfast menu other than a bowl of cornflakes cost extra but they didn't tell us that! They wanted us to pay for a new mattress when a small amount of beer had been spilt on it! A/C was an extra 5 Euros / night so we had a pretty hefty bill when we checked out. The pool was rarely cleaned and we noticed quite a few dead wasps floating around in it. We found that the people that worked there expected us to bend over backwards to suit them rather than the other way around (I mean, come on - who's paying the bills here?!?!). Apart from the hotel we had a fantastic time and would urge anyone that is young at heart to go check it out!!!
