Ludwigsburg tourist information
On 7 May 1704, when Duke Eberhard Ludwig decided to build a little hunting lodge across Täles stream, he doubtless had no idea that he was laying the foundation of one of the greatest Baroque palaces on German soil, and of an entire city that would play a key role in the politics, art, business, trade and industry of his country. Today, Ludwigsburg is a medium-sized centre of the services industry, the media and the arts with a population of 85,000.
Sightseeing tours, thematic tours of the Residenz Palace (e.g. chat with a valet), wine-tastings at the wine-growing estate of the House of Württemberg, relax at the spa in Hoheneck, riverboat cruises on the Neckar.
