Friedrichshafen tourist information
Situated at the 'three countries corner' where Germany, Austria and Switzerland meet, Friedrichshafen is one of the largest and most attractive towns in the region. It occupies a central location on the northern shore of Lake Constance and enjoys fabulous panoramic views of the lake and the Alps. Fittingly for the town where airship flight was invented, today Friedrichshafen attracts people from all over the world. It has a new trade fair centre – Messe Friedrichshafen – in addition to the Graf-Zeppelin-Haus cultural and congress centre. Friedrichshafen is also home to global companies, such as automotive manufacturers ZF and MTU, and its lakeside setting means that besides the numerous boat trips available, there are endless possibilities for water sports and other activities. Come and sample Friedrichshafen's warm hospitality for yourself.
There are courses in painting and ceramics for people who enjoy creative holidays. Those who prefer more activity can take part in a "wellness run" beside the lake, go inline skating or try their hand at a variety of water sports on the lake: water-skiing, wakeboarding, banana boat or tube riding, day trips on a sailing yacht, or taster sessions in a canoe, kayak or Canadian canoe. For cyclists, there are guided cycle tours twice a week. And, if you want to get away from the bustle of the lakeside, you can explore the Bodensee Wildnis, or Lake Constance Wilderness. But, without a doubt, the real highlight of a trip to Friedrichshafen is a flight over Lake Constance in a Zeppelin NT.
